The Uttar Pradesh government Friday announced a new department has been set up for NRIs, tasked with not only solving their problems but also attracting investment in the state.
Infrastructure and Industrial Development principal secretary Sanjeev Saran has been handed over the charge of the new department, a state government spokesman said.
The new department would not only work to address the problems faced by the NRI community in the state but would also encourage the hard-working and technically advanced NRIs to invest here.
The spokesman added that recognising the large number of NRIs from the state, the department would also increase communications with the community and make them partners in the efforts to usher in growth in the state.
A cell was earlier constituted in the Udyog Bandhu to address the problems faced by NRIs and inform them of investment and job opportunities in the state.
The official said that families of most of these NRIs from Uttar Pradesh still live here and that the government was working toward a policy to harness their abilities for the welfare and growth of the state.
