Nurse's body found hanging in hostel

The body of a 24-year-old hospital nurse from Kerala was found hanging from a ceiling fan in a hostel here Monday afternoon, said police.

Vinita Sebastian's body was detected around 3.15 p.m. in the hostel of Sir Ganga Ram Hospital in central Delhi's Rajendra Nagar area, police said.

Sebastian had been working in the hospital for the last two years, police said.

"No suicide note was recovered... the reason behind her extreme step is yet to be ascertained. Her colleagues are being questioned," said a police officer.

The nurse did not report to work Monday, police said.

"As she did not inform anyone about her leave, hospital staff were asked to inquire about her. They, along with the hostel authorities, went to her room and found her body hanging from the fan," said the officer.
