Octogenarian booked for daughter-in-law's murder

An 80-year-old man from Tarn Taran district in Punjab was booked on Thursday for the murder of his daughter-in-law, police said.

Police said Arjun Singh doused Harjinder Kaur, 45, with petrol on Wednesday night and set her on fire following a row over money in Burj Puhla village near Harike, about 240 km from here.

She suffered critical burn injuries and died in a private hospital in Amritsar on Thursday. The accused is absconding. The woman's husband is a Punjab Police Head Constable.
