Overall public support for the Delhi government's odd-even traffic restriction initiative, which was aimed at curbing pollution in the national capital, was 4.5 times more than the opposition it faced, a survey report has said.
The results of a debate earlier this week among citizens on change.org on the 15-day pilot run of the traffic campaign, with over 12,500 people expressing their views for or against the scheme, showed that 54 percent of them wanted it to be extended while 21 percent of respondents voted against the initiative, said the report released here on Friday.
Besides, as many as 25 percent were not clear whether to support or reject the anti-pollution campaign, the report added.
By the end of the week, nine petitions were started on the website asking the government to extend the scheme while there were an equal number opposing its proposed extension, the report said, adding that by now 17,857 people have actively participated in the debate.
Out of 17,857 people, 14,647 supported the petitions which sought extension of the scheme and the remaining 3,210 came out against any extension of the scheme.
