Eyeing to achieve third position in the 'Ease of doing business Indices' among Indian states, the Odisha government on Thursday directed the departments concerned to carry out reform measures on a priority basis.
The state, which achieved seventh position in the ease of doing business indices, now targets to achieve third position in next assessment to be done by World Bank and Department of Industrial Policy and Promotion of the central government.
Holding a review meeting over the implementation of reform measures, Chief Secretary Aditya Prasad Padhi directed departments concerned to prioritize implementation of the reforms as departmental agenda and achieve the set targets by July 30.
Industry Secretary Sanjeeb Chopra said that the reforms already implemented by July 30 would be taken into consideration in coming assessment of Indian states.
Padhi directed the departments to upload the reforms implemented in their respective departmental websites in a prominent and user-friendly manner so that investors can easily access and use it while complying to various statutory clearances and certificates.
He also advised uploading the timelines decided for various services to be provided by the department concerned in ease of doing business.
The departments were advised to segregate and categorize various points applicable for different types of industries and communicate with them accordingly through e-mail, mass media, and SMS modes.
It was decided that all the departments concerned would take up proactive steps to diffuse information about reform initiatives among the investors and 1st generation entrepreneurs.
"We are easing the process of business for all categories of industries with special focus on small and medium scale industries as these are likely to create more employment," said Chopra.
