Leading app-based cab service provider Ola on Tuesday launched its ride sharing offering Ola Share in Delhi and National Capital Region (NCR).
"We are excited to bring Ola Share to Delhi NCR. Ola Share will help citizens travel in the comfort of social groups they are part of, with convenient access from the Ola app," said Ola Share head Ishan Gupta in a statement.
A maximum of three people falling into a social group from workplace, college, friends or any other can avail Ola Share wherein Ola app deploys advanced algorithms in real time to match users from common social groups looking for a cab in the same route.
"Ola Share will allow citizens who travel on the same routes to share their rides with users from social groups they are part of, starting today. This makes for economical fares and reduced congestion," Ola said in the statement.
The cab aggregator said Ola Share will help in making cities greener and cleaner by reducing pollution and road congestion and is being launched at the right time as Delhi government will implement a pioneering odd-even formula for private vehicles in the national capital starting from January 1, 2016.
To battle pollution, the Delhi government has recently decided that private vehicles with odd and even registration numbers will ply on odd and even dates respectively starting from the first day of 2016.
Ola is currently offering a 50 percent discount on Ola Share fares in Delhi - NCR region in the coming month.
