Police said the rival groups initially pelted brickbats at each other and then opened fire resulting in one death. Over a score were injured in the fighting in Kinaoni locality of Ghaziabad over a piece of land owned by the village panchayat.
At the outset, three boys of one group, going to school Monday morning, were beaten up while they were passing through the rival group's locality, police said.
The injured students informed their parents about the incident following which the group rushed into the rival group's locality and started beating up the residents indiscriminately.
The clashing groups later used fire arms against each other, resulting in the killing of Rahul, 23, on the spot. At least three people sustained bullet injuries in the firing and were admitted to a nearby hospital, police said.
Besides, at least 20 people were injured in brick batting besides the three injured school children, police said.
Noida police later deployed over a dozen constables in the locality to maintain peace.
