At least one person was killed and six injured Tuesday in a suicide car bombing that targeted a Lebanese army checkpoint in Beirut, media reported.

According to reports, the suicide bomber drove an explosives-laden Mercedes car into the checkpoint on Hadi Nasrallah Avenue in Beirut's southern suburbs, Xinhua reported.

Security forces were already chasing the car and firing at it before it exploded.
