A group of armed criminals looted cash and valuables worth lakhs from passengers on a train in Bihar's Saharsa district and shot a passenger, who tried to resist, police Saturday said.
The robbery took place late Friday on the Samastipur-Banmankhi passenger train in Saharsa Jamui, about 200 km from Patna.
"Armed criminals boarded the train before Kopadia railway station, halted the train by pulling the emergency chain at an isolated place and looted cash and valuables," said a police official.
The passenger, who was shot, was admitted to a hospital in Saharsa in a serious condition.
This is the second train robbery reported in the last two days in Bihar.
Over a dozen train robberies have been reported across the state in the last six months.
