Amidst the controversy on surge pricing by app-based cab services, the city-based OTL cab launched its services on Wednesday with no surge pricing and without any ride-time charges.
In a recent order, the Delhi High Court directed app-based cab service providers not to charge more than the stipulated rates after August 22.
"We compete with the established players on price points and on quality services as well. There will be no surge pricing and ride time charges in our services. Passengers will pay on kilometre basis," company's Chairman Adhrick Roy said.
The cab service provider said it would charge a base price of Rs 35 and Rs 51 for first two kms in mini and premium segment respectively and after that passengers would need to pay Rs 9 per km for mini segment and Rs 10 per km in premium segment.
It plans to ramp up its cab strength to 2,500 by the end of 2016 from the current strength of 250 cars.
"Our business model is different from others. We hire cars from owners for a period of three years at a monthly rental between Rs 22,000-30,000. Drivers will be on our pay-roll," he said.
The cab service provider plans to recruit 35 per cent women as drivers for female passengers only.
Asked about the security measures, he said, "All the cars will be under CCTV surveillance. In case of insecurity, passengers can opt for security alarm option in our app or can press security button placed inside the car."
When pressed, the security alarm which is a radio-trunk panel, would alert our server, nearest police station and an emergency mobile number given by the passenger, he said.
