Over 150 IITians land jobs on first day of placement season

Over 150 students bagged job offers with top companies on the first day of the placement season at IIT Kharagpur, a statement said.

"A record 310 employment offers were made to students by the end of the day including pre-placement offers (PPOs). On Day 2, till 2 p.m., 60 more offers were made by 12 companies. More companies are in the process of interview in the second slot of the day ending midnight," the statement said. Excluding PPOs, the day 1 tally was at least 150.

The first phase of campus placement began on Tuesday and will go on till December 20.

The recruiters ranged from software giants like Google, Microsoft, Oracle and Visa to renowned consultancies like BMGI, Essex ALake Group and The Parthenon - EY Group.

Students also found themselves placed at internationally reputed core organisations like NTT Communications and Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Corporation. Among the other recruiters are Adobe, Walmart etc.

The recruiters ranged from software giants Google, Microsoft, Oracle and Visa to renowned consultancies like BMGI, Essex Lake Group and The Parthenon - EY Group, they said.

Students also found themselves placed at internationally-reputed core organisations like NTT Communications and Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Corporation.

Several organisations like JP Morgan Chase and Kepler Cannon visited Kharagpur for the first time this year.

Sudhirkumar Barai, chairman of the Career Development Centre at IIT Kharagpur, said: "It is a testament to the technical aptitude and all-round ability of the students at IIT Kharagpur, that organisations keep returning to our campus year after year."
