Pakistan on Thursday strongly condemned an attack on a guest house in Afghanistan's capital Kabul that killed 14 people, including two Pakistani nationals and four Indians.

The Taliban claimed responsibility for the attack late on Wednesday when a number of people, including foreigners, were gathered for a cultural show.

"Pakistan strongly condemns the terrorist attack at Park Palace Hotel in Kabul last night that killed a number of civilians, including two Pakistani nationals who were working in Afghanistan," Xinhua quoted a foreign ministry spokesperson as saying in a statement.

"Our deepest sympathies and condolences go to the families of the deceased," the spokesperson added.

"Such deliberate attacks on innocent civilians are highly condemnable and cannot be tolerated. Terrorism is our common enemy, " he said.

The spokesperson said that comprehensive and coordinated measures were imperative to root-out terrorism from the region, adding that Pakistan reiterates its condemnation of terrorism in all its forms and manifestations.

The UN mission in Kabul said the attack on the Park Palace hotel in Kabul killed 14 civilians and injured several others.

Four Indians, an American, a British citizen and an Italian were among those killed along with the Pakistani nationals.
