Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif Monday directed the attorney general of Pakistan to take legal steps to get revoked the suspension order on death penalties of five terrorists, media reported.

The Rawalpindi bench of the Lahore High Court (LHC) suspended the death sentences of five terrorists who were to be executed at the Kot Lakhpat Jail in Lahore, The News International reported.

The lawyer for the convicts filed a plea against civilians being sentenced by a military court, and argued that his clients were not allowed a lawyer or provided court documents.

The high court suspended the death sentences of Ahsan Azeem, Asif Idrees, Aamir Nadeem, Kamran Aslam and Umar Yousaf. It also summoned details of all the prisoners.

The prime minister has taken cognizance of the suspension and, according to his spokesperson, he has directed the attorney general to take legal steps to get revoked the suspension of the death penalty and re-evaluate pending terrorism cases.

Sharif said no concessions could be provided to those who kill soldiers, citizens and innocent children.
