Pakistan has reaffirmed its desire for a peaceful, stable and prosperous neighbourhood through enhanced economic cooperation and resolution of outstanding issues peacefully.
Speaking at the Non-Aligned Movement ministerial meeting Friday, Pakistan Prime Minister's Advisor on National Security Sartaj Aziz reiterated the government's resolve to create a democratic and prosperous polity in Pakistan, the Associated Press of Pakistan (APP) reported Saturday.
On the issue of terrorism, Aziz stressed that military means alone do not suffice to defeat terrorism.
He underlined the need for evolving a multi-dimensional strategy that included dialogue, economic opportunities, resolution of longstanding political disputes and hope and justice.
Aziz said that disarmament and non-proliferation mutually reinforce each other and are essential to ensuring international peace and security.
