'Pakistani government elements involved in cross-border activities'

New Delhi has time and again spoken of the presence of elements within the Pakistan government who actively participate in attempts to train and send militants into India, the government said on Tuesday.

Replying to a question in the Lok Sabha, union Minister of State for Home Affairs Kiren Rijiju said: "When it comes to the question of the terrorists being propped up and supported by the elements in the Pakistani government, the government of India from time to time has categorically stated, with evidence also, that there are elements within the Pakistani government who actively take part in their efforts to train and send militants to the Indian territory."

The minister was responding to supplementary questions about the justification behind holding National Security Advisor-level talks despite recent ceasefire violations by Pakistan.

Stating that till July 26, there have been 192 ceasefire violations by Pakistan, Rijiju said the government was taking various measures to check ceasefire violations at the borders, including setting up reinforced bunkers.

"The government is considering increasing the compensation to Rs.5 lakh from Rs.one lakh to the kin of those killed in Pakistani firing in Jammu and Kashmir," he added.
