Seventeen Pakistani prisoners lodged in Jammu's Kot Bhalwal jail raised anti-India slogans while protesting Sanaullah Ranjay's death Thursday, who was attacked in the prison May 3, an official said.
The official also said that Sanaullah had attempted a jail break in June 1999 along with 10 other prisoners by digging a tunnel near barrack number two, where they were lodged.
The case was handed over to the Central Bureau of Investigation.
Sanaullah died early Thursday in a Chandigarh hospital from multiple organ failure.
The attack on Sanaullah took place May 3, a day after Sarabjit Singh, an Indian prisoner in Pakistan, succumbed to grievous injuries following a murderous assault on him in Lahore's Kot Lakhpat Jail.
Sanaullah was arrested in 1996 and charged with involvement in a bomb blast at Katra town, the base point of the hill-top Hindu shrine of Mata Vaishno Devi, in 1994 which left 10 people dead. He was serving life term in the Jammu jail.
