PayUmoney, an online payments solution app, says it intends to add about 12,000 merchants this month through its upgraded app.
PayUmoney launched an augmented version of its seller app in January that assists the small and medium-sized enterprises (SME) ecosystem which joined the m-commerce bandwagon in selling their products or services through the app itself.
"The success of the initial version inspired new and innovative features in the updated app. After launching the new version, we have on boarded 10, 000 merchants, of which 20 percent were directed through the app. Until the launch, the average registration was 6,500 and now it intends to add about 12,000 merchants this month," Abhishek Tripathi, head of business, PayUmoney-SMB, said in a statement.
The app, that simplifies life for small and medium businesses aspiring to go digital, saves the merchants the tedious onboarding process of using a desktop or a laptop computer through a website.
The merchants simply need to follow instructions on the app, as it takes them through a seamless procedure of becoming an m-commerce enabled business.
"Our target was instigated by the fact that out of 51 million Indian SMEs, around 10 million are equipped with adequate technology to trade online. To tap the rest, we at PayUmoney introduced a missed call facility to assist merchants in tier -2 & 3 cities to sign-up on the platform by just giving a missed call,a¿ Tripathi added.
PayUmoney is the app by PayU India a" a flagship company of internet and media conglomerate Naspers group listed on London and Johannesburg stock exchanges.
