An airport in Philippines' Aklan province resumed operations Wednesday after an AirAsia Zest plane overshot the runway Tuesday night.
The incident occurred at the Kalibo International Airport located at the provincial capital of Kalibo city, Xinhua reported.
This comes after AirAsia flight QZ8501, which was enroute from east Indonesian city of Surabaya to Singapore vanished Sunday, 42 minutes after take off. There were 162 people on board the ill-fated plane.
According to the Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines (CAAP), at least 14 flights were delayed as the airport was temporarily closed after the incident.
Based on CAAP's initial investigation, strong winds brought about by tropical storm Jangmi might have affected the landing of the AirAsia jet, Kalibo CAAP chief Cynthia Aspera said.
The weather bureau had placed the central province of Aklan into storm signal number 1.
In a statement, AirAsia Philippines said: "AirAsia Philippines confirms flight Z2 272 from Manila skidded off the Kalibo International Airport runway at 5:43 p.m. upon landing."
"All 153 passengers and crew were able to disembark safely, no injuries reported."
