PM tells IPS trainees to empower common man

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday asked trainee IPS officers to empower the common man.

Interacting with over 100 trainee officers of the Indian Police Service (IPS) here, Modi said their uniform was a symbol of power and they should ensure that this power was used to empower the common man.

"(You) have the rare opportunity to work for the country, and there should be no compromise on (your) commitment," he was quoted as saying in an official statement.

National Security Advisor Ajit Doval was present on the occasion.
