The cyber cell of Goa Police will chargesheet a Facebook user accused of slandering Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar on the social media site after the agency receives reports from official forensic labs, police said Thursday.
"The matter is under investigation. We are awaiting reports from the central forensic science lab. We will file the chargesheet once the reports come," Superintendent of Police and in-charge of Goa Police's cyber cell Kartik Kashyap told reporters here.
After a complaint was filed by former head of the Confederation of Indian Industry (Goa) Atul Pai Kane, Devu Chodankar was booked by Goa Police for slandering Modi and Parrikar on Facebook.
Chodankar had alleged that Modi was plotting a holocaust of sorts against Goa's minority community.
Efforts were made to arrest Chodankar, 31, in May soon after the declaration of 2014 Lok Sabha polls results. Following outcry by the civil society, police did not arrest him.
Chodankar has been booked under sections 153(A), 295(A) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) and section 125 of the People's Representation Act and 66-A of the Information Technology Act. Some of the sections are non-bailable in nature.
