A court here Monday extended for three more days the police custody of Ranjit Kohli alias Rakibul Hassan who married national champion shooter Tara Sahdeo pretending to be a Hindu and who allegedly forced her to later embrace Islam.

Police in the Jharkhand capital Monday moved the chief judicial magistrate court seeking three more days of police remand for Kohli.

The court accepted the police plea.

Jharkhand Police have also sought permission from the Patna High Court to question a Bihar judicial official who allegedly took Kohli's mother to New Delhi when he was absconding.

According to police sources, Kohli was using two mobile phones allotted in the name of the judicial official.

Police Sunday seized 36 mobile SIM cards, 15 mobile phones, two CPUs, four printers, two airguns and various documents from Kohli's house.

Police sources said Kohli appeared to be close to many judicial and police officials.

Mustaq Ahmad, a registrar with the Jharkhand High Court, was suspended last week, after Tara Sahdeo alleged that it was Ahmad who organised her nikah with Kohli after her marriage was soleminsed in accordance with Hindu rituals.

In her complaint to police, Sahdeo, a national level gold medallist rifle shooting champion, said she got married to Kohli in July.

She said the marriage was solemnised in accordance with Hindu rituals, but during the Islamic holy month of Ramadan, she came to know from invitation cards that her husband's original name was Rakibul Hassan.

She alleged that Kohli and 20 other people forced her to change her religion to Islam. When she refused, she was allegedly beaten up and a dog was set upon her.

Sahdeo alleged that she was threatened with dire consequences if she told anyone about the conversion.

When Kohli went to New Delhi Aug 19, Sahdeo messaged her family and was rescued.
