FC Porto are preparing an offer to sign promising Brazilian midfielder Gabriel, according to local media reports.

The 21-year-old impressed scouts from the Portuguese club while playing for Botafogo during the 2013 Campeonato Brasileiro, Xinhua reported Saturday citing football news site Sambafoot's report.

A transfer would be aided by Gabriel's European passport, obtained last month, the report added.

Gabriel is not the only Botafogo player to attract the interest of European clubs in the January transfer market.

Teenage defender Doria, captain of Brazil's under-20 team, has been linked with Napoli, AC Milan, Barcelona and Juventus.
