The Madrid region in Spain was on Thursday selected to be the new home of the security monitoring centre (GSMC) for the European Union's global navigation satellite system Galileo after Brexit, said EU sources.
In a vote by representatives from EU members states and the European Commission, Madrid was chosen as the GSMC's new base, alongside France, once it leaves Britain, which is in the middle of negotiations to part ways with the bloc, the sources told Efe news agency
