A girl student of Presidency University was found dead in a house Sunday where she was staying as a paying guest while her roommate was also unconscious, police said.
Sumantika Bandopadhyay, an MSc first year student, was taken to the Calcutta Medical College, where doctors declared here dead. The other girl, Suvarna Lama, is now under treatment at the hospital.
Police said the family members of the victims became worried after phone calls to the girls' mobiles went unanswered. The duo was brought out of the room by breaking open the door and taken to the hospital around 10 a.m.
Lama denied having taken any drugs and said they had only eaten a dinner of chappatis and egg curry Saturday night.
Lama's father demanded a thorough probe into the incident.
