President Pranab Mukherjee Tuesday condoled the death of former Arunachal Pradesh chief minister Jarbom Gamlin, saying the nation has lost a leader "who always worked for the common man".
In a condolence message to his wife Shakuntala Gamlin, Mukherjee said he was extremely saddened to learn about Gamlin's death.
Gamlin, who was chief minister for six months in 2011, died at a hospital in Gurgaon Monday. He was 53.
The president said Gamlin made "immense contribution towards the welfare of the people of Arunachal Pradesh".
"His (Gamlin) dedicated services as the legislator, minister, member of parliament and chief minister of Arunachal Pradesh will always be remembered. In his death, the nation has lost a leader," the president said.
"Kindly accept my heartfelt condolences and convey the same to other members of your family. I pray to god to give you and your family the strength and courage to bear this irreparable loss," he added.
