President Pranab Mukherjee on Monday greeted the nation on the occasion of Guru Nanak Jayanti -- also called Gurpurab -- and urged people to "unite to bring happiness in the lives of the suffering & strive for the betterment of humanity".
"Warm greetings & best wishes to all my fellow citizens in India & abroad on the birth anniversary of Guru Nanak Devji," Mukherjee tweeted.
"Universal vision & humanism of Guru Nanak Devji have been an inspiration to people everywhere...May each one of us endeavour to follow the Guru's profound teachings & work to strengthen the bonds of togetherness," Mukherjee tweeted.
