President Pranab Mukherjee on Friday greeted Bhutan on its National Day and said Indo-Bhutan ties were a shining example of "good neighbourly relations".
In a message to King Jigme Khesar Namgyel Wangchuck, Mukherjee said: "It gives me immense pleasure to extend to Your Majesty and the friendly people of Bhutan my heartiest greetings on the occasion of your National Day.
"The special relationship between our two countries is a shining example of good neighbourly relations," he said.
"Over the years, our close bonds of friendship have strengthened and our wide ranging cooperation has diversified in all areas of our shared interest."
Bhutan celebrates its National Day on December 17.
"Our enduring friendship owes a great deal to the wisdom and commitment of successive Druk Gyalpos, including Your Majesty."
