President to attend National Voter's Day celebrations Saturday

President Pranab Mukherjee will attend the National Voters' Day Celebrations at Vigyan Bhavan here Saturday, a Rashtrapati Bhavan statement said Friday.

"The day is celebrated by the Election Commission every year as a measure to enhance participation of citizens, especially youth, in the democratic electoral process," the statement said.

"The Commission's objective is to make universal adult franchise a complete reality and thereby enhance the quality of Indian democracy," it said.

The first National Voters' Day was celebrated Jan 25, 2011.
