Improving living condition of sex workers in red light areas like GB Road, providing them better rehabilitation facilities and putting an end to the sex racket and human trafficking in the area will be the prime focus of DCW for next three years, said re-appointed panel chief Swati Maliwal.

"DCW had started a major movement in abolishing the flesh trade in GB Road three years ago and this will continue to remain our focus. The circumstances under which the women are living in the brothels is extremely bad," she told media here on Tuesday.

Maliwal's role as the DCW chairperson was extended for another three years by Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal on Monday. Maliwal, 33, whose tenure was to end on July 27, became the DCW chief in July 2015 and will now head the commission till 2021.

The DCW chief also said that there has been a sudden rampant rise in prostitution in the city beyond the red light area and they are talking with police to put a check on it.

About the Commission's other initiatives, Maliwal stated that putting an end on the easy access of acids, stopping child rapes and effective implementation of death penalty ordinance, and shutting the centres run by self-styled godmen will also be priority.
