Punjab Deputy Chief Minister Sukhbir Singh Badal on Saturday cleared projects worth Rs.6,000 crore to provide basic amenities in the state and fixed 2016 as the deadline for their completion, an official statement said here.
Interacting with chief executive officers, vice-presidents and representatives of companies working in the field of civic amenities the world over, Badal said that all amenities should be made available and operationalised on 10-year maintenance basis by December 2016.
The projects envision complete water supply, sewerage, solid waste and sewage management, streetlights, water supply and sewer connections to each house.
Badal said that the state government had already floated tenders for Amritsar and Bathinda cities for modern sewage treatment plants. Likewise, the remaining towns and cities too would be provided sewage treatment plants, he added.
The deputy chief minister said the projects would be awarded to companies on turnkey basis.
