Calling for investment in Punjab by South Korean companies, Punjab Deputy Chief minister Sukhbir Singh Badal on Wednesday offered to establish a Korean Park with plug-and-play facilities to kickstart inflows from the East Asian nation.

Badal, who is leading a delegation on a five-day visit to South Korea, said that Korean companies could invest in environment management, transport, electronics and solar cell manufacturing.

Badal made the Korean Park offer during his meeting with Kim Kyung Hwan, the vice minister for land, infrastructure and transport Vice Minister in Seoul on Wednesday.

"The Korean minister said the government would ask Korean companies who had already invested in India to explore investment options in Punjab," a Punjab government spokesman said here.

Badal also invited the Korean government to facilitate investment in smart cities in Punjab.

"The Punjab government has decided to take up a project to create two smart cities at New Chandigarh and Mohali on its own. We are committed to move fast to facilitate investors who want to set up such cities," Badal said.
