Nearly 97 lakh tonnes of paddy has been procured this year in Punjab, food and supplies department officials said Tuesday.
Ludhiana district led in paddy procurement with over 11.51 lakh tonnes. Sangrur and Moga followed with 10.95 and 9.6 lakh tonnes of paddy respectively.
Procurement started at 1,806 centres Oct 1.
Out of the total paddy procured, the government agencies have obtained over 95.15 lakh tonnes. This is 98.2 percent of the total paddy arrivals.
