Russian President Vladimir Putin may meet his Iranian counterpart Hassan Rouhani during an upcoming gas exporting forum in Tehran, presidential aide Yuri Ushakov said on Friday.

Putin will no doubt go to Iran's capital Tehran for the third summit of the Gas Exporting Countries Forum (GECF) scheduled for November 23, and "a meeting with the summit host is possible", Ushakov was quoted by Xinhua as saying.

The GECF is a gathering of the world's leading gas producers. The first summit was held in Qatar's capital Doha in 2011.
