Congress President Rahul Gandhi on Monday expressed shock over the death of Karnataka legislator Siddu Bhimappa Nyamgoud in a road accident and lauded his contribution to farmers' causes.
"I am shocked to hear about the demise of Karnataka MLA, Shri Siddu Nyamagouda in a tragic accident. A popular leader, he played a major role in erecting a farmer's barrage across the Krishna River at Padasalagi.
"My thoughts and prayers are with his family in their time of grief," Gandhi said in a tweet.
Nyamgoud, 71, legislator from Jamkhandi in Karnataka's Bagalkot district, died in a road accident near in the district on Monday, police said.
