Congress President Rahul Gandhi on Tuesday slammed Jammu and Kashmir's ruling PDP-BJP for their "opportunistic alliance and non-existent Kashmir policy", in the wake of divergent statements by state Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti and Defence Minister Nirmala Sitharaman regarding Pakistan following the Jammu attack.
Gandhi accused Prime Minister Narendra Modi of "dithering" while Indian soldiers were killed in terror attacks in the state.
"PDP says 'talks' with Pakistan. BJP Defence Minister says 'Pakistan will pay the price'," said Gandhi on Twitter.
"While our soldiers pay with their blood for BJP/PDP's opportunistic alliance and non-existent Kashmir policy; Modi Ji (Prime Minister Narendra Modi) dithers," he added.
On Monday, Mehbooba Mufti had called for India-Pakistan talks, adding that though she will be dubbed "anti-national" by TV channels for making the appeal a dialogue was necessary if they wanted to end bloodshed in the state.
Defence Minister Sitharaman on Monday warned Pakistan that it will pay a price for the terror attack on an army camp in Jammu that left five soldiers and a civilian dead in a two-day gunfight.
