A day after a woman was killed in Pakistani firing on the Line of Control (LoC) in Jammu and Kashmir's Poonch district, Pakistani troops on Sunday opened heavy shelling and firing in Rajouri district, targeting both Indian Army posts and civilian facilities, officials said.
District administration said Pakistani shelling affected Panjgrain, Khorinar, Rajdhani and Naika areas near the LoC, leading to fear and panic among people.
Indian positions retaliated strongly and effectively, officials said.
A 65-year old woman, identified as Parveen Akhtar, died after she was hit by a splinter from a mortar shell fired by Pakistani Army on Saturday.
Sunday's was the fourth ceasefire violation by Pakistani Army in the last two days.
