The railways will launch new projects worth Rs.10,000 crore and many other old projects will be completed in the its ongoing fortnight (May 26-June 9) programme to mark the Narendra Modi government's first year, Railway Minister Suresh Prabhu said on Wednesday.
"During this 15-day period, new projects of over Rs.10,000 crore will be started or old projects will be completed. Large-scale cleanliness campaign is also underway," Prabhu told reporters at the New Delhi Railway Station here where he signed an agreement with public sector undertaking Concor for upgradation of passengers amenities.
Prabhu said the programmes are being undertaken in more than 15,000 places across the country and several people are being given free medical aid from the railways.
"We are also taking independent feedback from people on services offered by railways, such as food or hygiene, among others," he said.
