Hail and rains have caused extensive damage to wheat, mustard and potato crops in Agra and neighbouring districts in Uttar Pradesh.
A freak weather this month has hit agricultural operations, farmers said. Potato crop in Agra, Mathura and Firozabad districts have been the worst hit, farmers said.
"It rained the whole night and it is still raining," said Anokhe Singh, a farmer in Fatehpur Sikri near Agra Sunday morning.
Farms in some parts of the region are knee deep in water following the winds, hail and showers.
"The farmers were expecting a record crop but now will be happy with even half the average yield," said Ravi Singh, a farmer of Barauli Ahir block.
