Former Sri Lanka president Mahinda Rajapaksa Wednesday criticised the Maithripala Sirisena-led new government for a search conducted by police for a luxury car in his country house in the Southern Province Tuesday, media reported.
The former president, during his visit to the Asgiriya Temple Wednesday said that for the first time since 1931, the residence of the Rajapaksa family was searched by police.
He also wondered whether the search was a part of the present government's policy of good governance, the Daily Mirror reported.
Rajapaksa added that political victimisation and incidents of violence were going unchecked all over the country and the government should take steps to prevent them.
