The Rajasthan government has uploaded 1.27 lakh applications of farmers on the 'Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi Yojana' (PM-KISAN) portal after Prime Minister Narendra Modi criticised the state for farmers not receiving benefits from the scheme, a senior IAS officer said.
The officer, Neeraj K. Pawan, said on Tuesday that around 10 lakh farmers had applied for the scheme but their applications could not be uploaded as they were not verified by their district collectors.
As the 1.27 lakh applications were verified they were uploaded, Pawan added.
Under the scheme, Rs 6,000 will be given per year to small and marginal farmer families having combined land holding/ownership of up to two hectares.
The amount will be given in three instalments of Rs 2,000 each and will be transferred directly to the bank accounts of the beneficiaries through the direct benefit transfer (DBT) scheme.
Also on Tuesday night, Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot confirmed the uploading of the 1.27 lakh applications, adding that around 9,74,000 small and marginal farmers' names were also registered at a state-level web portal.
Gehlot said that an additional 52 lakh farmers names' will be registered on the PM-KISAN portal by March 15.
Addressing a rally in Churu, Rajasthan, earlier on Tuesday, Modi accused the Congress government in the state of being uncooperative, adding that it was "quite unfortunate that not a single farmer from Rajasthan and Churu has got any money".
He said the state government has not sent the list of farmers to the Centre.
