Rajesh Verma appointed Odisha CM's Secretary

The Odisha government on Monday appointed Rajesh Verma as Principal Secretary to Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik.

Verma was the Principal Secretary of Energy Department.

The appointment comes as Upendra Nath Behera took over as Chairman of the Odisha Electricity Regulatory Commission (OERC), said the Chief Minister's Office.

Hemant Sharma has been given the additional charge of energy.

Sharma is the Chairman and Managing Director of Gridco and Odisha Power Transmission Corporation (OPTC).

Behera, who was Additional Chief Secretary to the Chief Minister, took charge as the Chairperson of OERC.

Governor S.C. Jamir administered the oath of office and secrecy at Raj Bhavan here.

Behera was to superannuate from services in July this year. He applied for voluntary retirement, which was accepted by the state government.
