Real Madrid's Brazilian left back Marcelo Vieira suffered a "muscle contraction in his left thigh", the Spanish football club has announced in a statement on its official website.
He was injured in Tuesday's Champions League clash against Paris Saint-Germain, which Madrid won 1-0.
"Following tests carried out on Marcelo in the Sanitas la Moraleja University Hospital, the player has been diagnosed with a muscle contraction in his left thigh,' the statement said on Thursday, reports Efe.
"His recovery will continue to be assessed," the statement noted.
The 30-year-old Brazilian international had to leave the field during Tuesday's match after 33 minutes as he felt discomfort in his thigh.
Marcelo will miss Sunday's La Liga match against Sevilla away at the Sanchez Pizjuan stadium.
