An 18-year-old girl committed suicide Wednesday by jumping into a well in Rajasthan, allegedly after the principal and some teachers of her school rebuked her during the morning assembly, police said.
A police officer told IANS that the girl, Sanjana Kumawat, was a class 12 student at the Government Senior Secondary School at Kuchaman town in Nagaur district, some 200 km from here.
"Sanjana went home after school and jumped into a nearby well. Her body was taken out after her family members informed the police about the incident," the officer said.
Police have found a suicide note in which she accused her school principal and two teachers of "harassing" her and making a mockery of her in front of other students during the morning assembly.
"Depressed over this, she ended her life. We have launched an investigation into why she was rebuked," the officer said.
