Delhi Tourism and Culture Minister Kapil Mishra on Thursday said that religious institutions will contribute to Delhi government's efforts to spread awareness against the spread of chikungunya and dengue and they will make appeals on Friday for steps to prevent breeding of mosquitoes.

Talking to reporters here, Mishra said Delhi government's appeal on Wednesday to people to create awareness against vector-borne diseases has received "a phenomenal response".

Mishra said that religious places such as Gauri Shankar temple, Tilak Nagar Gurudwara, Jama Masjid and Orthodox Church are contributing to the efforts to spread awareness about the diseases.

"The religious institutions will be making special appeals to public for their support to ensure that these vector-borne diseases can be curtailed."

According to Mishra, the campaign has also received support from Art of Living Founder Sri Sri Ravi Shankar.

He said that All volunteers will visit households in Delhi to create awareness and help in the fogging drive. Celebrities including Amjad Ali Khan, Birju Maharaj, Shubha Mudgal have also pledged their support to the campaign.

Market associations across Delhi will also help in the cleanliness drive across the city, Mishra said.
