Respect sensibility of adults: Ekta Kapoor on censorship

Filmmaker Ekta Kapoor feels the sensibility of adult viewers should be respected and they should be allowed to watch what they want outside the house.

"The reason TV is a one-size fits all because we value and honour that we are entering people's houses. The sensibility of an adult should be given the understanding that he should be allowed to watch what he wants outside the house," Kapoor said here when asked on her views on the censor board.

She was speaking at an interactive session organised by FICCI Ladies Organisation.

Refusing to comment on the board, Kapoor, however, made it clear she supports freedom of speech.

"Freedom of speech internationally in democracies like the US can hurt a lot of feelings but people accept it and move on and we will always have issues like women having to hide themselves because somebody is going to say her skirt was too short.A I think this gives rise to prohibition. I think everyone should live in a conducive and welcoming society," she added.
