Defence Minister Manohar Parrikar on Wednesday said there has been a rise in the number of "encounters" in Jammu and Kashmir, but not terror attacks.
Parrikar said: "There is an increase in encounters".
The minister was asked about the increase in the number of terror attacks in Jammu and Kashmir.
On June 25, terrorists attacked a bus with CRPF personnel killing eight and injuring over 20. Two terrorists were later killed by security forces.
On Tuesday evening, one unidentified militant was killed in a gunfight with security forces in Lolab area of north Kashmir's Kupwara district.
