Rishi Kumar Shukla will succeed Surendra Singh as Madhya Pradesh's Director General of Police (DGP), an official here said.
Surendra Singh retires on June 30; the order for the appointment of the new DGP was issued on Friday night, the official said.
As is the practice, Shukla has been made, for the period between the appointment order and his assumption of new office, the officer on special duty of the outgoing DGP.
Shukla was hitherto chairman of the state police housing board.
