Robbers Friday opened fire and shot at six members of a family in Uttar Pradesh, killing one and critically wounding the others, police said.
Five armed men barged into a house in Gigli village in Hathras district, 330 km from here, and fired at Ajmatullah and his family, Superintendent of Police Jitendra Kumar Shahi told IANS.
Ajmatullah's 14-year-old son Gulfam died on the spot. The man, his wife, two daughters and another relative were rushed to Agra for medical help.
Villagers also fired at the robbers after hearing the family scream for help but the men slid away under the cover of darkness.
