New Zealand born teenage singer and songwriter Lorde's song "royals" won the song of the year award at the 56th annual Grammy Awards.
It was her second Grammy, which took place Sunday at the staples Center here. She also won the best pop solo performance trophy for "Royals".
Lorde had written the song with Joe Little, who also accompanied her on the stage to accept the trophy.
The other nominations in the category were "Roar" by Katy Perry, "Same love" by Macklemore and Ryan Lewis and "Just give me a reason" by Pink featuring Nate Ruess.
