Finance Minister Arun Jaitley Thursday announced a scheme to support community radio stations and allocated Rs.100 crore for the same.

"So far around 400 permissions for setting up of community radio stations have been issued. To encourage the growth in this sector, a new plan scheme is being taken up with an allocation of Rs.100 crore," Jaitley said in his budget speech.

"This scheme would support about 600 new and existing community radio stations," he said.
